I noticed every know and then, whenever I was on/in forums, it seemed that everything slowed down… Then I read this thread, and kept on the look-out, and sho 'nuff…

it wasn't popping up, but it was still trying to connect… So, the others who haven't seen the ad might be like me- the pop-up just isn't… well, poppin'-up.

Caught some a few days ago, just haven't been around to upload these.

And

And what's more ironic is that when I tried to pause one ad, it didn't let me. Why? Because it's like an ad on Youtube: It's the ad before an ad. Which means in order to watch the ad I have to watch an ad first, and the ad in front of an ad has to be played so I can pause the ad behind the ad.

It's an ad within an ad.

This might be the sixth time that I have gotten this ad.

It's not an ad and there's nothing we can do about the scorecard research popup. We can only try to get the actual ads on the site (header, sidebar, footer) changed if they're doing things like autoplay with sound.

If it's not an ad… then what is it o_o and why on our site

Well, if you happen to have a Firefox, you can add NoScript to it, and disable scorecardresearch, and any other undesired web pages linked to the site from functioning. It also speeds stuff up, since the only pages that have to load are KYM itself, addthis, and google.

..Works for me at least…

@Muumi & Boomer: That is not the point of this thread, so please don't post about it.

@Kalmo's Post: Ok, seriously? That thing has been pissing me off! AND WE CAN'T TAKE IT OFF!?! AOFJSIDJfOSEIJBLARG!

Okay, I guess it was a stupid thing to say, and I apologize.

I just thought scorecardresearch was not affiliated with this site, and was running its own ads with popups and autoplay agains the policy. That's why I thought disabling java script might help someone.

I was just trying to help out, and I'm sorry about that. Won't happen again.

…Wha-?

Well, yeah. Sweatie deactivated his account.

Anyway, I had a few tabs up, but I had autoplaying ads where I got different audio simultaneously. I got an ad including the music Back in Black, one that was asking me about loans, and then another one which I forget. A few of the tabs were on Ponibooru, but when I (finally) was able to close them out, the ads continued. It wasn't until I began to close KYM tabs that the ads stopped.

I also believe they were on the KYM tabs, because I got two separate prompts asking did I really want to leave the page (both saying I won something) when I tried to

I couldn't screencap it, because the ads slowed my laptop down so much (Chrome became unresponsive several times, so I just wanted to get it off of my screen. But this is the first time this has happened with me. I believe the thread was the KYM Forum Enrichment Program, but I'm sure the ad wouldn't be restricted to that one thread.

I have a solution if you use firefox and chrome in just this image:

Oh hey, this is funny because fuck you man.
Why are you using adblock on knowyourmeme? As a regular user, you are preventing the website of which you are a regular from getting the amount of money it should be getting from your traffic. Don't you want this website to succeed? Seriously guy.
Whitelist knowyourmeme. Seriously.

Look at RandomMan and other people, RandomMan uses FIREFOX With adblock, others use adblock too

"Someone else is doing it" isn't a reason for you to do it. That's a very simple argument.

Question – What's the policy on rollover ads? There was just one at the top of the page about how "Barack Obama doesn't understand the economy", and if you rest your mouse on it just for a couple seconds, say while you're scanning the top threads in General, it brings up a huge video. Is that under the ad rules?

What ads? Things our ads are not allowed to have include autoplaying audio, pop-ups, and bright/flashy/annoying banners. If you see any of these things, screengrab and report them to us so we can get rid of them!

It seems to be borderline. I don't think it could hurt to report it and then see what the admins say.

As for me, a Lysol autoplaying ad just came up for me. In fact, it's the third different autoplaying add I've heard today. However, since I had different tabs up, I couldn't find (or remember) the ads for the first two, and I don't remember in what detail the Lysol ad was for (I didn't paste the screencap before copying olivia's post…)

KYM must have a ton of different advertisers coming through here.

EDIT: "Make that five for today. Just had two going at the same time.

for the last several weeks i too have been getting lots of auto-playing ads, though i cannot remember what they were about (since i'm usually more busy trying to get rid of them). they also don't seem to ever stop, if the video ends it just refreshes itself and starts playing a new one. some of them have mute or pause buttons but that's a frustrating hassle to have to manually go through and press (especially since, like i said, after a short duration it reloads regardless of if it's paused or not).

next time it happens, i'll screencap it.

Yeah, just started with that talking ads again. I tell you, it might as well have been a damn spider scratching broken glass across a chalkboard. Site get closed and I go find something else to do; I don't need that sort of bother.

Acctually, adblock only make the ads invisible, it doesn't remove them.
So, KYM still make money

When going to other sites, they actually say that Adblock Plus prevents them from making money. You'll actually get messages saying to add them to their whitelist if you use them a lot.

What can you do about these. I've gotten two, the girl crying and some chick talking to her dog.
They're so annoying cause I usually bring up a lot of tabs at KYM and then they start playing and I have to go find where it is.

I've been getting these two all day.

Well popup blocker just blocked a popup on the forums.
I opened the popup anyway and it's something called Voicefive. Asked me to take a survey.
Not necessarily from this site because Voicefive is the popup from hell but I thought it might be worth mentioning.

I recently got an ad with a female voice that said i had a chance to win a new IPad. I had two tabs open at the time, both KYM, and when i went back to the first one, in the top left corner it said Pop-up Blocked. Are virus programmers that fucking desperate to get something on my computer?

"AudienceTV" advertisement videos autoplaying

Are they supposed to autoplay? how to get rid of these?
sometimes when a page loads up there’s TWO of these ads appearing on the right side, and they will both autoplay at the same time

I am * constantly* getting that motherf**king scorecard research shit. It's getting really old.

It was appearing on almost all the websites I visit and making the load times atrocious. I thought it was a virus. I went to a different computer, installed virtual-box with linux and browsed again with chrome and adblock plus. Same god damn thing.

What is going on?

@sting

I've been getting the same thing, at first I thought my browser was infected, because that's one hell of a pop-up.

Anyway, it makes the page redirect here: http://ahoyplayer.info/flashplayer/download/
