It sucks to join the forums late.

Well, this is my current hyperfixation… the kym forums. Too bad I wasn't there during the glory days, and it sucks to be late. Refreshing and refreshing, hoping for a reply, only to see nothing. Seein threads go nowhere and die… and the slow death of the creative section!! Absolutely heartbreaking!

I don't know what caused its demise, and I know damn well I can't resurrect this part of the site. But god…. I wish I could.

Either that or build a time machine.

I apologize to the mods in advance if I post too much here.

So… got any ideas?

Join the kym discord server I guess its more active, you will get banned eventually but it is more active.

Dont know much else really

Oh, I'm on the Discord server. That's not a problem. (Though I hate how much stuff is paywalled behind Discord Nitro.)

This thread is more me lamenting that I was born too late to join the site's glory days.

In general the only thing that improved from 2015 to 2024 is trans issues otherwise things used to be so much better back in "my time"

This forums were quite active and it was great too

Hell even I am past my prime, I used to be less cynical, younger, traumatized, ruthless and more popular in this website back then.too…sigh….time sure is a bitch isnt it?

edit: I really miss Jungle Princess Fan he was great…..

Honestly, I've been lurking here for so long it's become like a show I watch, like, it feels wrong to interact here or something.
My social anxiety doesn't help either (and fuck those memes saying "haha introverts online r stronk")

It's stand out appeal was how it resisted the rest of the internet moving away from the 2000s/early-10s culture of tolerance-through-irreverance. Now that's been done away with it's running on inertia.

Reddit all over again.

Oh no!
We were hipsters!!!
Now that we’ve lost our cool factor, what do we have now?!?!

Maybe we shouldn’t worry too much about the site’s reputation, and instead focus on more fruitful things instead.

I actually don't think I started going to the forums within the last year, and I joined 8 years ago. It's crazy to think that I've put in over 1,300 comments across the website.

I'm not exactly sure why I never went to the forums back then, but I think I probably noticed that we had one 3 years ago but didn't contribute them until recently.

Holy fuck a 14 year old accounts first comment, we have a true Lurk King among us.

Seeing how old that account was made me want to see if it was made when the webside was. It's impressive that this site was made in 2008, I assumed it was fairly new when I joined.
(I would have assumed it was made in like 2011 or 2012).
Never too late to start commenting I suppose.

2007, to be accurate.

yeah not having to spend time thinking what you say before you post it on discord has been a huge mistake I have made way too many times.

Also I think people can get a lot meaner or stupid on discord cause its easier to post stuff while you are still angry instead of think it over if being mean is worth it. I prefer forums where everything people post is far more well-thought out.

Discord is good in many ways but i do think forums are better.

I'm by no means DecafToaster when it comes to lurking, he has me beat, but I've been more or less lurking for about 10 years. Only recently did I decide to actually make an account, not that I use it much anyways.

It was pretty neato reading through KYM-lore as it unfolded, even if I wasn't directly participating in it. Poochyena, Emperor Palpitoad, and a few others I can't remember off the tip of my tongue.

Dang, you got banned too? I still don't know what I got banned for.

Ditto, though consequentially, it sometimes becomes a news source for me.

i.e. trending images was how I found out about Steve Harwell passing away because of a Smash Mouth meme

I would post on the forums more, but the lack of activity is a major deterrent. The forums could be a nice alternative to the echo-chamber Discord server, but it hasn't worked out that way.
