Incidentally a flaw that afflicts both the blindly slavish and the blindly rebellious to the consensus of the time; acronym shields often being deplyed on both sides in rebellions against orthodoxy.

My quack has more qualifications than your quack.

House of the Dragon is actually pretty good. Thought I would hate it, definetly hated the last few seasons of GOT, but it so far exceeded expectations instead of subverting them (to repeat what someone else said).

Vizzy T is up there with Bobby B in Kings.

Maybe it's because we already know how the Dance will end, so it gives more time to appreciate the characters and foreshadowing. Should be harder for the new writers to bungle the story.

The problem is that more people seem to confuse healthy doubt and skepticism with contrarianism

Doubters mistaking thier contrarianism with healthy skepticism, or believers mistaking a doubter's healthy skepticism for contrarianism?

I'd say both are true, in degrees, and no group exists that is or even can be immune to either.

Inducing both in thier viewership, selectively for political advantage is the reason for being of most of news media.

I have seen the former way more than the latter tbh

I mostly just use Nintendo switch online for playing the virtual console stuff. People complain about the selection, which I get, but then there’s the take that Nintendo should just release the entire console libraries on it.
Ignoring the problem of licensing, if they release every possible game onto the service, what comes next? The available online collections become “complete”. New releases for old consoles? While not unprecedented, they would need more publishers for frequent releases.

I’m happy to see they changed the vc stuff on switch from what previous consoles did, so you just need a subscription to play the entire library. There’s still plenty of room for improving the retro gaming experience. Who knows, since Super Mario Maker is now a thing, why not have a Legend of Zelda maker as well? Nintendo is a creative company, so who knows how they’ll change it, if at all. But as for now, and the foreseeable future, emulation does what nintendon’t.

While I understand some criticisms behind AI Art (such as others exploiting it), I think it gets overblown at times (like everything else on the internet, really). I think AI Art is fine so long as you're using it for fun or for references, plus it still does have limitations.

I feel like a lot of these uproars stems from after NovelAI released their image generations publicly. People didn't seem to mind Dall E or Stable Diffusion as much as from NovelAI's. Although I'd imagine Waifu Diffusion would explode instead if NovelAI never did release theirs.

I believe this is the general sentiment, the problem is people who say that it's "Obviously superior" to actual art.

I disagree with people who say the only good Silent Hill games were the first four made internally at Konami (hell it's worth remembering Team Silent was never a 100% consistent team, for one the dude who created the series in the first place only worked on the first game, he left Konami before work on SH2 began and worked at Sony for a while to create Siren). The games made in Europe were pretty good IMO, namely Origins, Shattered Memories, and Downpour. It was only the ones made in America that were the weakest entries, Homecoming and Book of Memories, and even then the "worst" Silent Hill, Homecoming, was really just average at best. So since European devs have had a decent track record with the IP that's why I feel people need to give Bloober Team a chance with the SH2 remake.

Problem is, I don't think anyone trusts Konami. They cancelled P.T and tried to erase it, and the way they treated their other beloved franchise with Metal Gear Survive (a zombie crafting game, parody is dead) means that it's better to go in with very low expectations.

With the state of WB Discovery. I think after the Russia invasion ends (Hopefully with Russia losing), Anonymous should do something small scale and target David Zaslav like hacking their cable channels to play all the shows taken off HBO Max and/or written off like Final Space.

Doubt they would do it but I'll respect their decision not to.

Honestly the state of WB Discovery makes the idea of them being bought by Apple, Amazon, or even a wild card like Microsoft or Nintendo would be merciful since they'd have a good idea of what not to do.

If Konami was making a Silent Hill game internally oh I would fully agree I don't trust them after what happened with Contra: Rogue Corps, but the fact they're letting outside studios handle it has me going "honestly this is the best option IMO." Fact the SH2 remake also has Masahiro Ito and Akira Yamaoka involved does mean at least it'll still retain the look and sound of the original, and again one reason why I feel it's worth giving Bloober Team a chance is because I've seen examples of devs who made bad or "mid" games in the past suddenly excel once they get ahold of the right IP. Next Level Games' non-Nintendo games were rather meh, but give them a Nintendo IP like Luigi's Mansion or Punch-Out and they shine. Similar deal with Teyon, they used to make really mediocre rail shooters and their Rambo game was pretty bad, but once they got to make a Terminator game that got to be a more open ended shooter with Fallout styled character interactions they showed they can actually make something great and now people are eagerly awaiting their Robocop game.

I also recently played one of the games made by No Code, the company handling the spin-off game Silent Hill: Townfall, and I'm confident that even if Townfall is mainly just an adventure game it'll definitely be a very atmospheric one with a good story.

Have three thoughts in mind

1. I like the idea of the Dimensional Merge in terms of story potential. If you dial the scope it back or simplify it, it could lead to some interesting stories.

Stuff like making friends with people from other worlds, trying to rebuild after the initial chaos has died down, trying to survive the chaos caused by people panicking, and the potential in terms of character interactions, especially if one was to do a crossover fic.

2. Were it not for Sonic Mania, Forces, and Frontiers reusing Green Hill, I would be down for an open zone game set on just South Island. Mainly because there's more to South Island than just the zones of Sonic 1. Along with the possibility of new areas, they could bring back zones from 8-Bit Sonic 2, Sonic Chaos, and Sonic Blast since they took place on South Island as well and it'd be interesting to try connect them together like Yellow Desert from Blast being in a secluded area accessible through a tunnel in Underground Zone from 8-Bit Sonic 2. Maybe the equivalent to Cyber Space stages could take place in the special stages along with Aqua Planet. Plus they'd be giving a spotlight to old zones from games forgotten by the public.

3. I do wish that Kirby got two attacks buttons in Forgotten Land. My biggest complaint with Forgotten Land is mainly the more limited move-sets. Though I understand it's for simplicity's sake, I still miss the moves that were removed from certain abilities in the jump to 3D and I feel that had Kirby gotten two attack buttons like in Kirby Battle Royale, we could've been able to keep at least some moves.

Bridget feels like a sidegrade at most like yeah more trans representation but Bridget used to be gender noncomforming and now Bridget SO isnt.

Hell the fact that hypothetically any gender nonconforming character must eventually made trans doesnt seem all that progressive to me tbh.

I mean I aint against it either but yeah

Despite continuous claims of “reasonable discussion”, I find KYM to be just as guilty of “circlejerk” behavior as any of the websites the userbase strangely obsesses over (reddit and twitter, mainly).

Gotta disagree with that.

Not because I think KYM is some sort of bastion of "reasonable discussion" but because places like twitter and reddit take circlejerking and turn it up to 11. It's difficult to meet or top those

If nothing else, we don't have people getting banned for wrongthink. (Your opinion on this may vary), I'll disagree with people here but by no means do I believe anyone should be banned.

Yeah. I think of the three people I remember who got banned, all of them had to really go above and beyond (vandalizing entries, pedophilia among other things, targeted harassement) to get banned.

The only reason this place is not as much of a circlejerk in comparison is because there are like 12 active users, and even then this place has shifted enough that some usual users have dropped this website.

They take their circlejerking to another Discord server. I recall the moderator Doeoeod attempting to invite the then-existing Individual to a server dedicated to anything left-leaning. I tried using the Wayback to confirm, but the archive is not populating the comments. But I do remember that he refused the invite and stayed adamant about how the mods should purge the racists off this site rather than flee to make a safe space.

Irresponsible pet owners deserve it when their pets died

I need to get this shit out of my head, somehow

Oh this reminds me of something.

A hard truth: you can love a pet as much as possible but the pet might never truly love you back. Had a cat when I was a kid who we did a great job taking care of, but he still ran away from a nice home and loving family in spite of this. Recently some neighbors of mine sent a dog of theirs to a shelter at the start of November and apparently went to go visit the dog recently, but the dog doesn't respond to the name they gave her and also seems to "not recognize" them.

Under other circumstances I'd be sympathetic, but the thing is this specific dog in question was a HUGE annoyance for 10 got damn months as she barked for HOURS on end whenever her owners weren't home. I told them multiple times to please do something about the barking but they never did despite saying they would, and when they told me the recent information about the dog not responding to the name they gave her and "not recognizing" them, they had the fucking audacity to blame ME for that shit because now they're saying they only put the dog in the shelter because they were tired of my noise complaints. Ex-fucking-scuse me, this is coming from the same people who, when I made a complaint once about how this barking had been going on for months, said to me "well she's MORE of an annoyance to us than she is to you" in an attempt to get me to stop complaining? And who told me this annoying dog attacked their two smaller dogs?! Not only that but those fucks should consider themselves lucky I didn't narc on them to the leasing office, they violated their lease by keeping that annoying dog despite residents only being allowed TWO dogs or cats max (and they had already moved in with two dogs last year), and noise complaints about an animal exceeding a certain amount will also result in a lease violation so again they should be lucky I made complaints directly to them instead of the leasing office.

These shits also didn't complain when I offered them the money to put her in a shelter "because it'll help us both out since you said the dog is a pain to you too," so if they're gonna complain now then how about I make you two pay me back the money I gave you thinking it would help us both out when I could have chosen not to?

I thought this was an unpopular opinion thread not a vent my life thread.

I think the best way for Pokemon to have a yearly release at this point would be to either port the 3DS games to Switch (Barring X and Y since that'd need a full reimagining/remake) or go back and update/expand the games already released.

My reasoning is this

  • For porting the 3DS games, all they'd need to do is remaster the graphics, adapt the touch screen to work on Switch (Something BDSP did with the Poketech), and maybe add new content and select Pokemon from the Switch games.
  • For adding onto the pre-existing Switch games, they already have the games on there, they just have to add new content like if they did DLC for Scarlet and Violet, maybe continue where the ending left off or for BDSP, maybe add Platinum's changes (And maybe a separate save file), Hisuian Pokemon, and maybe new stuff like new Sinnoh Variants.

Darling in the Franxx isn't that good.

I watched it after the hype train left. The way I saw people talking about it, you'd think it was going to be the next DBZ or One Piece or whatever. But nah. It's just ok imo.

I am not sure if this is the place to mention this, but as a man of the Upper-Midwest of the US, places like California and Texas seem more foreign than Manitoba and Ontario. My home State of Minnesota bears a number of similarities to the neighboring Ontario with the excessive apologizing and courtesy (like how we often wait at intersections in a standoff as we wait for the other party to go first). There is even a Suburb called Little Canada (there is also a Finland, Minnesota, but that's another story.)

I guess a really unpopular opinion is that being immediately dismissive toward those perceived as élitist without hearing them out first is quite rude and childish at times.

I also wish that EurKey still allowed one to type ð instead of just đ. I understand that đ is more practical, with the capital forms both being Đ_, but I like the look of the letter eth (_ð) better.

As weird as this may sound to some people, I kinda miss when different console versions of games had unique exclusive content. I understand this would be seen as unpopular nowadays as yes I acknowledge this sort of stuff helps fuel "console wars" BS and the can of worms that is "it makes no version feel complete," but shit man maybe this is just nostalgia talking but I miss the days of things like when each version of Soul Calibur 2 had an exclusive character, SSX On Tour having Mario characters in the Gamecube version, or things like when porting Ghostbusters 2009 to the Wii they gave that version a unique artstyle to make up for being on less powerful hardware.

I suppose one can argue this sort of thing isn't entirely dead as there is stuff like the PlayStation versions of Hogwarts Legacy having exclusive Hogsmeade story DLC, and even with Lego City Undercover being multiplatform now the Switch version is the only one to still contain the Nintendo content of the Wii U original, but I'm talking like I wanna see things like to what devs did back in the 6th console generation days.

I'm not a fan of the [Top Text]-centric convention when it comes to meme captions.
If done wrong, they can easily spoil the joke before the viewer looks at the actual image. On the other hand, [Bottom Text] lacks this problem, because most people are trained to read from top to bottom, though vertical writing systems do complicate this assumption.

If Twitter stayed out of the riots & the 2020 Election we wouldn't be having Elon Musk of all people taking the wheel and then putting all over in The Twitter FIles.

Him tweeting out "🌹 Twitter sucks," on July 24th, 2020 is like a domino effect, which leads to what we see today.

I suppose maybe adding onto this, it's 100% true that he was a left wing darling thanks to his EVs, then he opened his mouth.

Most KYM users should just admit they really do fall into some kind of hive mind mindset specifically when it comes to video game opinions because I swear it seems like every time KYM users collectively crap on a game it ends up being something I actually enjoy, most recently being High on Life, the new game from Justin Roiland. I also pointed out how it's kinda funny the general KYM opinion on The Last of Us 2 is "the critics are overrating this crap and it's the disappointed fans I side with" while with High on Life it's the opposite, where people are agreeing with critics who say "it's cringe and not fun" while disagreeing with players who are enjoying it (the user scores on other sites are quite positive). No consistency on if critic opinions matter more or if player opinions matter more, and both LoU2 and High on Life are also polar opposites on the argument "what matters more, a less serious story but fun gameplay, or a serious story with more grounded gameplay?"

I guess this is sort of a restatement of Mistress' post, but the speed at which controversial images and opinions accumulate downvotes (especially with no comments) makes me think we're way more tribalistic than we pretend to be.

Considering that I still share my affiliation with KYM, this is accurate.

Also, secret societies make me cringe.

If you add some “what if” scenarios into certain events, and choose the event that didn’t occur, that would eventually snowball into something greater.

@Gary Schwarzwald true, I know the pain

@Misterzygarde64 it sounds more like a community issue than a skill one. I recommend browsing for fan AUs, and, for when you want inspiration, alternate history scenarios.

Ren and Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon wasn't that awful. It was just boring. Ralph Bakshi jokes were kinda funny.
Stimpy's Pregnant is worse than Ren Seeks Help because Ren Seeks Help was interesting and the ending ruined it. It would have been cooler if it was a two parter. One in which Ren talks to Mr. Horse about himself and two in which Ren GOES POSTAL AND THAT SUICIDAL FROG TRIES TO STOP REN UNTIL STIMPY SAVES HIM BY HITTING HIM WITH A HAMMER! Ren wakes up not remembering anything and goes with Stimpy somewhere, but the frog remembers and decides to make a plan on how to kill Ren. IDK how to write else.
Stimpy's Pregnant is what happens when you ask a Tumblist to write a story. John K must have been on drugs while writing this.

I could explain about other things like what I think about Postal 4, but I will save it for other time.
