Last week's release of OpenAI's text-to-video AI Sora, able to generate videos that are both impressively and scaringly realistic, has caused quite a stir.
However, people demanded a benchmark: Get Sora to create the new version of the Will Smith Eating Spaghetti video, the most notorious spawn of the first-generation video AIs.
Finally, there is now a new video of actor Will Smith devouring copious amounts of spaghetti to properly compare the one-year progress of AI against.
There's a caveat, though: It's not been made by AI, and instead, it's just real Will Smith horsing around.
The actor posted the video to his Instagram today, and taken out-of-context, it might just appear that it was generated by Sora.
Understandably, some people are already trying to do a little trolling. Don't be fooled by the magic of Will Smith acting like he's been AI-generated though.
The will smith eating spaghetti videos have become the staple of AI progression over the years. This is how we will track ai progression from then, now, and the future. AI is improving at a rapid pace and it’s only going to become more and more exponential in growth. pic.twitter.com/aPVNnYX6Vv

Does this count as the very first instance of an actor playing an AI-generated version of himself? The experience Smith gained from his role in I, Robot has finally come in handy.
