The Wild Thornberrys is an American animated television series created by Arlene Klasky, Gabor Csupo, Steve Pepoon, David Silverman, and Stephen Sustarsic, Arlene Klasky being best known for co-creating the popular television series Rugrats, the show has gained quite a bit of popularity and has developed a fandom, the show's first episode aired on September 1st 1998, and the last episode aired on June 11th 2005

Premise

The show mostly focuses on a family called the Thornberries, a group of nomadic documentary filmmakers, even though the show mainly centers on the main character, Eliza Thornberry, who has a secret gift allowing her to communicate with animals, which she got after rescuing a shaman masquerading as a trapped wild animal, this gift also allows her to talk to the family's adopted pet chimpanzee, Darwin Thornberry, both of them venture through the wild, befriending different species of animals

Reception

The show has received positive reviews from critics, scoring a 6.8/10 on IMDB.com, the show has also received two Genesis awards, one for the most outstanding animated children's program, and the second one for Children's Programming (Animated) for the episode Hunting by Numbers, one award from the Burbank International Children's Film Festival for Best Tele-Feature Animation, one Environmental Media Award for Children's Animated for the episode You Otter Know, the show has also received eight nominations
